Trip delay
The group is every here in the Lima airport. Our flight has been delayed from 11:20 to 1:05. So we just lost over an hour and a half in Arequipa. There is a strike going on in Arequipa today but our daughter Joy says that it is not really disturbing anything. The plane is not delayed due to the strike but something else. The group has arrived in Portugal also. We got the following email from Scott Newton: We have arrived in Castelo Branco, Portugal, we had a very smooth trip, praise the Lord.

Peruvian photographer Martín Chambi : exhibition in Granada
Cuzco, Arequipa….As an adolescent, my dreams took me to South America. Dreams unfulfilled yet but this new exhibition in Granada on Peruvian photographer Martín Chambi will sustain me for a bit. I will go and look it next saturday. This is what Chambi wrote on the occasion of an exhibition in Santiago in 1936 “I have read that in Chile it is thought that Indians have no culture, that they are uncivilized, that they are intellectually and artistically inferior when compared to whites and Europeans

Friday Photo: Colca Canyon, Peru
Friday Photo: Colca Canyon, Peruposted October 17th, 2008 by anna Bright clouds hang beautifully in the air high over the Colca Canyon, close Arequipa, Peru, in this photo by Bryan Nelson. A canyon of the Colca River, Colca Canyon happens to be more than twice as deep as America’s Grand Canyon. But unlike the Grand Canyon, portions of Colca Canyon are habitable, and the local population still cultivates the pre-Colombian terraced fields. Intrigued by Andean geography? Happy Birthday, David!
Today our youngest son turns 23 years old. He has been a blessing and joy to us since the day he was born. Not sure what makes the difference–maybe I was older and didn’t stress so much about having to be the perfect dad or maybe he was just exceptional but David has been a wonderful gift from God. If you know him you know that he is a nut, a barrel of laughs and a tremendous blessing. He was born when we were older–like 31. Since the day he was born we were missionaries traveling every over the
